George L. Smith, Esq., a graduate of Trinity College and St. John's University School of Law, began his legal career at the New York law firm of Mudge, Rose Guthrie, Alexander & Ferdon in 1981. He then joined the Greenwich office of Whitman & Ransom in 1987, becoming a partner in the Trusts and Estates department of that firm which later merged with Breed Abbott & Morgan to become Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan. Mr. Smith joined the Greenwich office of the Hartford-based law firm of Robinson & Cole in 1995 as a partner and became head of its Individual Clients Section in 2002.
Mr. Smith is admitted to practice law in Connecticut, New York and Florida and is a member of the bar associations in those states, as well as the American Bar Association and Greenwich Bar Association (of which he is a past President). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, a member of the Executive Committee of the Estates and Probate Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and the Lower Fairfield County Estate Planning Council. Mr. Smith is also included in the directory of "The Best Lawyers in America” and “New England Super Lawyers."
In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Rye, New York and as a Member of the Advisory Council for the Fairfield County Community Foundation. Mr. Smith and his wife, Donna, live in Rye, New York with their four children.
Elizabeth M. Grant, Esq., a graduate of Smith College and Fordham University School of Law and a native of Greenwich, began her legal career in the Trusts and Estates Department of the Greenwich office of Whitman & Ransom in 1989. Whitman & Ransom later merged with Breed Abbott & Morgan to become Whitman Breed Abbott & Morgan. Ms. Grant joined Robinson & Cole LLP in 1995 as an associate in the Asset Planning and Probate Department, becoming Counsel at that firm in 2000.
Ms. Grant is admitted to practice law in Connecticut and New York and is a member of the bar associations in those states, as well as the American Bar Association, Fairfield County Bar Association, Greenwich Bar Association (of which she is a past President) and Lower Fairfield County Estate Planning Council. Ms. Grant is listed in “New England Super Lawyers” in its selection of Top Attorneys in New England and in “The Best Lawyers in America” in the field of Trusts and Estates.
Ms. Grant has served on the Boards of the Family Centers, Inc., the Round Hill Community Church, the Round Hill Association (of which she is a past President) and the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross. Ms. Grant and her husband, Mark Pruner, live in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Caroline P. Oliver, Esq. graduated from Brown University in 1993, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, with honors. After working in New York City for Christie's Inc. and Random House, Inc., Ms. Oliver attended Columbia Law School where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and graduating in 1998. After graduation from Columbia Law School she studied European Community law and Spanish in Barcelona Spain. She began her legal career in the Wealth Management Group at the Chicago law firm Mayer Brown in 1999.
Ms. Oliver and her husband, Drew, live in Cos Cob, Connecticut with their four children.
